12 steps

  1. We admitted we were powerless over fear — that our survival instinct drove decisions beyond our peace of mind.

  2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us to courage and calm.

  3. Made a decision to turn our will and lives over to the care of God as we understand Him, not fear.

  4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of the pressures, influences, and fears that led us to comply.

  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our survival-based choices.

  6. Became entirely ready to have God remove the guilt, shame, or regret we still carry.

  7. Humbly asked Him to release us from the bondage of fear-driven living.

  8. Made a list of persons, including ourselves, who we judged or harmed due to fear-based choices, and became willing to make amends.

  9. Made direct amends wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

  10. Continued to take personal inventory, and when new fears arose, promptly acknowledged and surrendered them.

  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, seeking courage and discernment.

  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we carry this message to others trapped by fear-based compliance, and practice these principles in all our affairs.

13th Step Safeguard

This program is not for medical debate, conspiracy, or blame. It is for healing the inner conflict of choices made under fear, pressure, or survival instinct. We honor that life was valued. Now we seek to restore peace from the emotional, spiritual, and mental conflict that followed.

12 Traditions

  1. Our common welfare comes first; individual healing depends on group unity.

  2. For our group purpose there is one authority — a Power greater than fear.

  3. The only requirement for membership is a desire to heal from fear-based compliance.

  4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting SCA as a whole.

  5. Our primary purpose is to bring peace to those still suffering from survival-based decisions.

  6. SCA groups never endorse, finance, or affiliate with outside causes.

  7. Each group should be fully self-supporting.

  8. SCA remains non-professional but allows for service workers.

  9. SCA is not formally organized, but may create trusted servants directly responsible to those they serve.

  10. SCA takes no position on outside issues; hence the name SCA ought never be drawn into public controversy.

  11. Our public relations are based on attraction, not promotion.

  12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation, reminding us to place principles before personalities.
